The Mural Movement

Founded on June 2, 2020, by visionary leader Delilah Martinez, The Mural Movement emerged in the heart of Pilsen as a response to the tragic events surrounding the murder of George Floyd. What began as a local initiative during protests swiftly evolved into a nationwide movement, leaving a vibrant imprint with 232 murals and counting across Chicago, Indiana, New York, Phoenix, Milwaukee, and San Diego.

Our unwavering mission is rooted in beautifying underserved communities while fostering holistic growth through resource provision and opportunities. Standing at the forefront of social justice, The Mural Movement utilizes murals not just as expressions of art but also as tributes to COVID victims, victims of gang/gun violence, and victims of police brutality.

The impact extends beyond art as we consistently organize community-centric initiatives—food pantries, community baby showers, Turkey Drives, School Drives, Toy Drives, Basketball, and Boxing Camps. Our creative activism extends to pivotal events such as Human Trafficking Awareness, Covid testing, voting awareness, census initiatives, and vaccine awareness campaigns.

In the summer of 2023, our focus shifted towards welcoming migrants to Chicago, providing immediate necessities upon arrival, and engaging in long-term support encompassing medical services, job opportunities, resources, and more. Committed to reducing violence in Chicago, we passionately invest in the youth by offering creative outlets, employment opportunities, mental health therapy, and collaborative strategies with community organizations to minimize violence in our neighborhoods. The Mural Movement is not just about paint on walls; it's about transforming communities, uplifting spirits, and fostering positive change nationwide.

For the people. By the people. In the peoples community.

Thank you for being part of our journey.
